I'm Sergio Thomas-Miles — a Senior Product Designer and Design Systems specialist based in Zürich.

My work sits at the intersection of product design, frontend engineering, and scalable UI architecture. I help organisations transform fragmented product ecosystems into consistent, efficient platforms.

My flagship engagement was leading the design system build at Bank Julius Bär as part of an IBM Consulting engagement — creating the token architecture, component library, and governance model that became the mandatory standard for all software development at the bank, and remains active more than two years after handoff.

Beyond design systems, I thrive on complex enterprise products where UX needs to operate at system level. My work at Glencore on the Core Trade platform — replacing a 20-year-old global trading system — gave me deep experience designing for expert users in zero-tolerance, high-stakes environments.

I consult via IBM iX and work directly with clients across financial services and enterprise software.

Right now I'm deliberately evolving toward design engineering — integrating Cursor, Claude, React, Tailwind, and JSON-based token workflows into how I work. I believe the next generation of design systems work lives at this boundary.
